FACTORS AND MULTIPLES GAMES

 The questions in this game focus on important concepts such as factors, multiples, prime factorization, HCF, and LCM. Important facts you should know that will help with this game.

A number is divisible by its factors A number is divisible by 2 if the last digit is even. A number is divisible by 5 if its last digit is 0 or 5. A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of all of its digits is multiple of  3. A prime number has only two factors: 1 and itself. Every composite number can be expressed as a product of prime factors.

Comienza un nuevo curso en el que, además de las clases de mates, seguiremos realizando actividades y talleres para acercarnos y entender mejor las matemáticas y su utilidad en la vida.

Aunque no lo creáis, si tenéis algo de paciencia acabaréis descubriendo que detrás de los números y las operaciones hay una asignatura que os puede sorprender mucho. Ya dijo la matemática iraní Maryam Mirzajaní, primera mujer en recibir la medalla Fields (equivalente al Nobel en Matemáticas): "La belleza de las matemáticas sólo se muestra a sus seguidores más pacientes"

No os olvidéis de las actividades que habrá en el segundo recreo pero esta tarde, cuando estéis en casa no os olvidéis de hacer este test. 8 de Marzo. Paro Internacional de Mujeres

 Ya hemos hablado en clase que el día 8 de Marzo es el día Internacional de la Mujer, también os hemos hablado del Paro Internacional de Mujeres con el que este año se reivindica este día.

Nuestro insti  no puede estar ajeno a un día tan especial y realizaremos varias actividades en el segundo recreo.

- En primer lugar haremos una pequeña concentración apoyando #NosotrasParamos, porque es necesario valorar y visibilizar todo el trabajo realizado por las mujeres (tanto el que está pagado como el que no)

- También realizaremos un mural contra la violencia machista. Queremos dejar nuestra huella, y  decir que  #VivasNosQueremos y que no consentiremos #NiUnamenos 

Desde Matesote os animamos a participar y os pide que estéis atentos al blog porque iremos colgando alguna actividad relacionada con mujeres científicas, en las que ya sabemos que sois ya verdaderos expertas y expertos...

THE SIMPSONS' HEIGHT (WHO SHOT MR BURNS?)

Today's class, we're watching an episode of The Simpsons TV series, called Who shot Mr Burns?

In this episode, somebody has shot Mr Burns and Homer and the rest of the family are accused of attempting to murder him.

1. Calculate their heights in metres.

2. As you can watch on the episode, the police van is bigger than 7 feet. How many metres are 7 feet?

3. How tall are you? Work out your height in feet and inches. 

4. Measure your table in inches and centimetres by using the measure tape.

Some activities are extracted from "Maths with the Simpsons" by Abel Martín and Marta Martín Sierra.

How to play Bingo

1. Each student is given a bingo card.

Additionally, each student is also given a marker pen (or set of counters).

2. The teacher reads out (in random order) numbers.

3.The students then try to look for the number on their bingo card. If they find it, they cross off that square (or cover it with a counter).

4. The winner is the first student to achieve a winning pattern and call out "Bingo!" (the teacher should check their card at this point).
